Waiting: While counter intuitive, waiting is actually an action verb. What are you doing? "I am waiting." Hey, that doesn't make sense Absolutely, it does. Lifting a coffee cup, pushing a wheelbarrow, and digging a hole are definitive action verbs. Everyone recognizes these. How about the phrases, driving me crazy, falling in love, and dreaming. Just figures of speech and not verbs? Perhaps, but they allude to the idea that not all actions are the result of bodily movement. At the most basic level, waiting is allowing time to pass, recognizing that it is passing, and that there is a desired outcome at the other side of the elapsing time. By not doing something, or more appropriately, doing something else while you are not doing that other thing, you are absolutely taking action. Maybe, actually, even two actions: waiting and doing simultaneously. Even better. This is not about the what and why of making it from point A to B in life, but is about recognizing the need to have a strategy, thinking about the strategy, and how, ultimately, everything you do is a tactic getting you closer to your goals. But, the twist is that your calculated well planned actions are probably just something to do while you are waiting for the real actions to take place.
