Sons of Odysseus: SOE Heroes in Greece

Autor Alan Ogden
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 30 apr 2012
Review via Amazon: SONS OF ODYSSEUS is the second book Alan Ogden has written on the activities of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) in the Second World War. Where A SPUR CALLED COURAGE, Ogden's previous work, concentrated on Italy, SONS OF ODYSSEUS focuses on Greece; once again, his thorough research has produced a marvelous book, rich in detail, maps, chronologies, photographs, bibliographies, glossaries and indexes such that the reader wants for little. Brimming with anecdote and full of character, SONS OF ODYSSEUS gives a great sense of the harsh reality of SOE operations in the unforgiving and barren land that Greece in fact is.Ogden states from the outset, that it is impossible to do this vast subject justice in one volume. He is wrong. Once again, he is to be congratulated on a superb book.

Notă biografică

Alan Ogden - After a career including twelve years as an infantry officer with the Grenadier Guards and a long and enjoyable stint in international advertising and public relations, Alan decided to change direction and write about the history and culture of Eastern Europe. His books include Romania Revisited, Fortresses of Faith, Revelations of Byzantium, Winds of Sorrow and Moons and Aurochs. In 2010, Through Hitler's Back Door, his well-received study of SOE in Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania, broke new ground and A Spur Called Courage continued his interest in the history of the courage and heroism of individual SOE.
