Hermann Klaus Hugo Weyl, a German mathematician, theoretical physicist, and philosopher. Although mostly working in Zurich, Switzerland and then Princeton, he is connected with the University of Gottingen tradition of mathematics. His research has had vital importance for theoretical physics and purely mathematical disciplines including number theory. Weyl printed technical and some general works on logic, symmetry, space, time, matter, philosophy, and the history of mathematics. One of the first to conceive the combination of general relativity and the laws of electromagnetism.
