As she explores the rot at the heart of her own lineage, Mia gains new insight into the journeys of other survivors of abuse.

J. C. Flynn's work in no way exonerates Nadia or the others for the torment they subjected Mia to, but it does provide an incredibly empathetic look at the ways the effects of trauma can be passed down through generations.
