Since its inception in 1932, the Pageant of the Masters has delighted audiences in Laguna Beach, CA. This annual show, which features tableaux vivants of famous works of art, has become a tradition for locals and tourists alike. Each season's line-up of beloved classic art is always capped off with a reenactment of Leonardo DaVinci's beloved The Last Supper. For the first time ever, members of the Third Street Writers, a writing group based in Laguna Beach, have created a collection of fictional short stories inspired by the artists' works and lives. These pieces tell the stories behind famous paintings and explore themes of life, death, love, and revenge found in those fictional worlds. Some of the works of art featured in this year's collection include Judith Beheading Holofernes by Michelangelo Caravaggio, The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore GEricault, Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, The Three Graces by Sandro Boticelli, and more. Other stories imagine moments in the dramatic lives of masters such as Claude Monet, Marie La Brun, Gustav Klimt, and others.
