Notă biografică
Rev. Dr. Charles Antwi-Boasiako is a fellow of Fogarty Northern Pacific Global Health with a Post-Doctorate in Haematology from University of Washington, USA, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He served as a mentor for the University of Michigan's Minority and Health Disparities International Training (MHIRT) Program, also funded by the NIH. He is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Physiology Department, University of Ghana. He holds both MPhil and PhD degrees in Physiology from University of Ghana Medical School. He is an award-winning lecturer with over 12 years teaching experience in Biostatistics and Research Methods, Physiology, and Theology in several universities including University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast Medical School, Family Health Medical School, Accra Medical College, Central University, Valley View University, and Greenhills University college of Health Sciences. He is also a consultant for statistics clinic at the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine and Dentistry, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. He also serves as an external examiner for the Department of Physiology, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He has very rich experience in data analysis and mentorship in research design and thesis supervision at the BSc, Masters and PhD levels. In both 2008 and 2013 he was adjudged the Best Basic Sciences Lecturer in the University of Ghana Medical School, with four different awards, two of which are medals for the prestigious Badoe Teaching award for the Best Basic Sciences Lecturer. His students are mostly Medical, Dental, Veterinary, Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health students at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Resident doctors and specialists preparing for their exam and thesis also benefit from his mentorship in study design and data analysis. He has numerous scientific publications to his credit and has participated and presented his research findings in several international scientific conferences in places like San Francisco, Colorado, Washington DC, Michigan, and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, all in the USA. The author's rich background in physiology, biomedical research, data analysis and biostatistics enables him to link Biostatistics to the practical application of research in Medicine and Health. He has therefore presented Biostatistics in a very simplified and easy form in this book.
