Steve Garrett is on the run--again--from big-time drug dealer Carlos Romero and the police. Then he meets Jesse, the young native man with a troubled past and a mysterious mission who offers him refuge on a cattle ranch. There Steve learns about new kinds of survival, survival of man and beast against the elements and survival of nature against man. As life begins to take a new meaning, Steve even goes back to school to earn his high school diploma with the help of Lynne, a very special teacher.
