In most countries, statistics show that 99% of businesses are classified as small businesses. In the UK alone, 99.8% of businesses employ less than 250 staff and these companies contribute more than a half of the UKs turnover. Notă biografică

Dr. Azhdar Karami is Lecturer in Business and Management at the Bangor Business School, University of Wales Bangor, UK. His Ph.D. centres on the strategy development in small and medium high tech firms. More specifically he has studied the CEO's perception of strategy formulation and implementation in the UK's Electronic Industry. Dr. Karami has written on the topic of strategic management and strategic human resource management including recent publication (with Prof. Analoui), titled Strategic Management in Small and Medium Enterprises. He has also published several articles on the business and management subjects within international refereed journals including International Journal of Management, Journal of Management Development, International Journal of Corporate Governance, Journal of Corporate ownership and Control; academic books; and international conferences. He acts as referee for some refereed journals and conferences, including Journal of Management Decision.
