THE BOOK - now includes prologue for sequel Britain's benefits culture is a thing of the past. Dynamic Prime Minister Alison Latham has created a hive-like world where every person has a purpose. A community of millions. Not a single life is wasted, with even the weakest and most vulnerable playing their part in the nation's transformation. But all is not quite as it seems. Although the revolution was quiet and bloodless, countless lives have been torn asunder before our very eyes. Whilst the silent majority are duped into collaboration, dissenters are ignored or punished. Democracy, civil liberties and equality are replaced by corruption, discrimination and segregation. Paul Kelly, who has Asperger's Syndrome, knows life in the Zone is intrinsically unnatural. His first personal rebellion at Industrial Zone Four is brutally crushed and he is forced to suffer alone for years in silence. Until his younger brother Thomas is also declared "subnormal" and sent to IZ4 following an accident. Allied with a handful of fellow Zoners and free-thinkers from the outside world, the brothers defy the powers-that-be. Pursued across the country by relentless government forces, the Rebels race against time to restore to the British people a freedom they did not realise they had lost. THE AUTHOR As the father of a severely autistic son, debut novelist Stuart Kenyon has pledged to donate a fifth of all royalties to to his local Special Educational Needs school, who are raising money to provide much-needed sensory equipment for the children. Stuart, who read English Literature at the University of Salford, wrote at least seventy-five per cent of Subnormal on his smartphone. He plans to start work on a sequel in 2015.
