Survival After Vietnam
Autor Ronald R. Choquetteen Limba Engleză Paperback
Preface
This is a true story/biography of one Vietnam Veteran and his survival after Viet nam, and his return to America from a very unpopular war. And dealing with PTSD; (not even time can heal.)
Returning to his native homeland and finding a country where the people were bit-terly battling one another over the Vietnam war. Where only about 18 to 20 percent of the people maintained that the U.S. involvement was right and that 65 to 70 percent believed it was wrong.
The American people were very disrespectful towards the Vietnam Veteran. The Viet-nam Veteran was treated worse than any other veteran returning from other earlier wars.
The American people saw the Vietnam Veterans as perpetrators and they made no distinction between the brave warriors who fought in Vietnam, and the war itself. The American public made the Vietnam Veteran a disgrace and the draft dodger the real hero. Including a lot of veterans from past wars, who, for some reason were jealous of the Vietnam Vets.
Today the sympathy for the Vietnam Veteran has increased, and public respect for the Veteran is gaining at a very fast pace.
The Americans now think that most Vietnam Veterans have PTSD, emotional problems and suffer from lack of jobs, discrimination, alcohol, drug abuse, alienation, and lack of purpose.
This true story is of one American Vietnam Veteran who survived the bitterness, rejection, discrimination, alcohol, alienation, PTSD, emotional problems, and found a purpose in his life, along with success. His real war was not in Vietnam, but here in the United States of America, covering a life span of some 35 years and counting.
This Veteran has come out of the closet, as one would say; to stand up and be counted as a real survivor of PTSD, which will never go away. One learns to deal with it on a daily basis,
...and survive.
