Recenzii
This absolutely cracking debut novel from Lucy Saxon ... is a delicious cocktail incorporating steampunk, His Dark Materials and George Orwell. About as good a YA adventure as you'll see all year
Take Back the Skies is a brilliant debut and Lucy Saxon is definitely an author to keep your eye on! There are so many twists and turns in the book; I was absolutely captivated from the first page until the last. She writes beautifully and entertainingly and I can't wait to read more in this series!
A fab fantasy debut from an exciting young author
Take Back the Skies is a fun and wild adventure into a fantasy world that becomes more vivid with every new word. It's a fast-paced story filled with tension and danger, one that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. The cast of characters is great and the worldbuilding strong. Cat is such a likeable character that I felt her heartache when her adventure comes to an end and she comes full circle' This is a great book.
I thought it was A M A Z I N G , a complete mix of love, tragedy, betrayal, excitement and beauty. From the moment I started I was hooked and I couldn't put it down.
For younger teens, the breathlessly paced adventure aspect of the novel will carry the story of a privileged heroine who stows away on a smugglers' skyship and persuades the not-so-motley crew to help her save her country. Sprinkled with popular elements of dystopia, steampunk, and noble love, the plot sparkles. The characters-spunky Cat, brooding Fox, the bromance pair of Ben and Matt-are types straight out of teen-friendly TV series like Firefly and Gilmore Girls. More books in this universe are promised, and Saxon has set up the world of Tellus well to support many rollicking tales. Ages 12-up. (June)
