Willem Cornelis van Unnik studied theology in Leyden and for two terms in Woodbrooke (Selly Oak, Birmingham) (1928--1935); doctor of Theology, Leyden (1937); thesis: Nestorian Questions on the Administration of the Eucharist; minister of the Dutch Reformed Church (1936--1946) and teacher of religion in a secondary school in the Hague (1942--1945); professor of New Testament in the University of Utrecht (From 1946); member of the Royal Dutch Academy (1951) .
