THE FIRST NOVEL WITH MUSIC While writing Tears of Allah I kept hearing music, and it was driving me crazy. Throughout history, novelists have used poems or songs or quotes from other sources to provide mood or context for an entire book, a chapter or a section. It seemed like a natural progression to actually compose and perform my own music as part of the process. The soundtrack sets the tone for this tale of a centuries-old clash of religions and cultures bubbling back to the surface of history.
