Ignorance. Jealousy. Witchcraft. Subterfuge. Regicide and Vengeance. These characterized the leadership situation in the village of Umuigwe. There is relative peace in Umuigwe until the arrival of the white man with his religion and government. Igwe Uwaneme the ruler of Umuigwe is at a loss over the paradox of the white man's coming. The gods predicted the alien as good, but his actions suggested evil omen. For condoning what they called the desecration of the land, Igwe Uwaneme now becomes a target for elimination by some charlatans. Under this guise a new leadership is enthroned. However, it did not last longer than the coronation day. Thus for twenty-seven years the throne remained vacant and Umuigwe is put in disarray. Is there any hope?
