Teenage Troubles: Youth and Deviance in Canada

Autor Julian Tanner
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 8 iul 2009
Teenage Troubles: Youth and Deviance in Canada, third edition, offers a comprehensive analysis that questions conventional thinking about youthful misbehaviour. The social construction of youth problems and the nature of popular images of deviant youth are contrasted with the realities of adolescent deviance as measured by official and unofficial accounts. Subcultural theory is thoroughly explained and then applied to the main arenas in which adolescentsubcultures emerge: high school and the street. Female delinquency is also covered in detail-a topic area that is often overlooked by traditional studies of youth deviance. New to this third edition is a chapter on youth gangs, an issue of increasing importance to the public discourse on law and order issues inCanada. Teenage Troubles takes a uniquely Canadian perspective on youth and deviance that will both engage and enlighten readers.
