Recent trends in postgraduate courses in Latin America
In the current international scenario, postgraduate courses have become a priority for both governments and national productive sectors in terms of their contribution towards international competitiveness and domestic development. Governments and manufacturing sectors alike now require universities to produce highly qualified human resources, as well as scientific output and quality technology, which is giving rise to a climate of debate and rethinking on postgraduate policies. This book analyzes recent trends in postgraduate courses in Latin America, their development and their main features from a perspective that, among other aspects, encompasses national educational traditions, social and political processes and international influences, which have increasing influence over national higher education systems. Mabel Davila holds a Master's Degree in Social Sciences with a mention in Education from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO - Argentina). A researcher as well as undergraduate and postgraduate professor at several Argentine and international universities, she is a member of the Educational Studies Center (Centro de Altos Estudios en Educacion) at the Inter-American Open University (UAI). The author acts as a consultant on educational policies for various national and international bodies and has written a number of publications on higher education in Argentina and Latin America."
