Today, the Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the ancient temple that served as Nashville's exhibit hall, is all that remains of the 1897 Tennessee Centennial. Bobby Lawrence, a former history teacher, serves as historian at the Nashville Parthenon in
Centennial Park. He has written numerous articles and worked on a documentary about the Tennessee Centennial; in 1997, he organized a one-day historic festival celebrating the event's 100th anniversary. In Tennessee Centennial: Nashville 1897, Lawrence's affection for the wonders of yesteryear provides a living legacy for future generations to enjoy.
