Notă biografică
Yusuf S. Saleem, a human restoration specialist with over 40 years of experience in behavioral and mental health, has dedicated his life to dismantling cultural conditioning that perpetuates negativity and inhibits personal growth. Born into an environment beset by systemic challenges including misogyny, poverty, and violence, Yusuf experienced firsthand the damaging effects of societal ills. Overcoming his own struggles with self-hate and depression, he developed a profound understanding of the need for healing on a personal and societal level.
As a seasoned counselor, therapist, and mental health worker, Yusuf has focused on reversing what he refers to as "tactical strategies of the modern-day Pharaohs," societal constructs that contribute to dysfunction and destruction, especially towards males. Recognizing the limitations of traditional evidence-based behavioral, addiction, and mental health interventions, he pursued a broader, more holistic understanding of societal issues and healing.
Having worked earlier as a Mental Health Program State Auditor and having the unique opportunity to be chosen and work earlier as a Pennsylvania Governor's Management Intern, Yusuf saw first-hand the complexities of bureaucracy and the shortcomings of institutional responses to community needs. A few of these experiences became some of the groundwork leading to his holistic vision. Earlier in his career to better understand how people learn and are influenced, Yusuf studied Instructional Media at West Chester university. And later to work and function as a Behavioral Health Professional and Change Agent, he studied and earned a Master of Human Services degree from Lincoln University in 1990. The foundations of each area of study gave Yusuf a better way to comprehend the interrelationships of different systems, sciences, and institutions, which lead to his ideas of Human Restoration.
His unique approach views personal and social problems through the lens of 'Oneness' or 'Tawhid', acknowledging the interconnectivity of various fields. In his quest for understanding, Yusuf explores the intersections of social and behavioral sciences, biology, emotional intelligence, neurosciences, philosophy, interfaith religious practices, mathematics, food science, addiction, marketing, government, athletics, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and both classic and contemporary literature.
