Long ago, Bryn tried to use a gemstone to focus his magic so he could stave off dark mages, who were threatening. Mid-spell, the tourmaline broke - into one green half and one pink half. Bryn finds he can use the green half, set in an amulet of his making, to enhance his power. The pink half responds to his wife, Paire, giving her more power as well. Using the Amulets of Power, they are able to defeat the dark mages and drive them back to wherever they came from.
