The Beasts of Barnesfield is both a historical and personal account of a young girl's life on a riverside farm in early northern Virginia. A brief history of the area and its founding family is shared in the preface. In the story, young Annie struggles with an unwelcome creature on her family's farm and soon learns a difficult lesson about nature and life itself.
