The Book of Husbands not just delves into the mysteries of marriage but plunges headfirst into its complexities through the experiences of author Bonnie Jae Dane. While in part a comic romp when rummaging through one husband's predilection for women's lingerie and another's romance with his guitar, it also wraps these earthly experiences in her need to find a Divine source of love. Dane's fortitude to take in stride countless marital calamities ending in disappointment will bring the reader to a new understanding of courage. Her sense of the absurd never leaves her adrift in sorrow but helps her pursue an underlying conviction Love exists somewhere. It just needs to be found. She refers to herself as suffering from 'spiritual greed' while 'saint hopping' but really her combined optimism and confoundedness make this story 'heart rending and uproarious' and a must read for everyone. Yo-Yo Ma has described her writing as 'Mellifluous' and so sounds the beat of her heart.
