The Chechen's Revenge

Autor Ron Stotyn Ilustrat de Shaun Stotyn
en Limba Engleză Paperback
The Chechen's Revenge is a terrorist threat days from creating havoc in the Go Train transportation system in the greater Toronto region of Ontario. Chechen rebel Marek Kafirov's plan, to chastise Canada's failure to censure Russia during the First and Second Chechen wars, is expected to create system wide destruction of the GO Train infrastructure and the death of thousands of complicit Canadians. The only foil is Chief Investigator Sean-Guy O'Dwyer-Lariviere of the Canadian Anti-terrorism Service (CAS). But Sean-Guy, in a race to a surprising conclusion, risks failure because of an independent spirit and penchant for solo behavior when narrowly focused on a case. Sean-Guy O'Dwyer-Lariviere, twice divorced with one daughter, is a retired Canadian Army Intelligence Officer and recently a Detective Sergeant of the Surete du Quebec. His career has been punctuated by awards, honors and criticisms for his independent behavior. Despite his successes solving difficult crimes in Quebec, his superiors, in perhaps an inspired move to rid themselves of his failure as a team player, recommend to the Canadian Minister of Justice his appointment to the post of Chief Investigator of the newly formed Canadian Anti-terrorist Service. Sean-Guy begins his new job with a display of his independent attitude by conducting a surveillance the CAS HQ in Ottawa, Canada including a dark of night break in. Marek Kafirov, entered Canada on an expired student visa that was valid only on an earlier visit to attend an English as Second Language program in Sean-Guy's home town and at Sean-Guy's alma mater. Marek, a graduate of an Al Qaida inspired training camp in Chechnya, is a skilled bomb maker and suicide terrorist with a mission to teach Canada a severe lesson. A severely broken individual exposed to the brutal murder of his parents by Russian invaders of Chechnya, Marek is singularly focused on Canada's supposed bad behavior in failing to challenge Russia's occupation and horrific behaviors during the First and Second Chechen wars. Now his behavior and mental state echo the symptoms of severe PTSD. Sean-Guy's CAS team of investigators includes an ethnically diverse group of specialists. Everet Tailfeathers is a Canadian First Nations member of a band located in Southern Alberta. Trained as an artist at two superior Alberta schools, Everet is also a skilled marksmen, a sniper and former member of a Canadian Army rifle company. But he reveals little about himself preferring to keep a closed mouth on most occasions. The Team's Assistant Chief Investigator is a retired RCMP corporal, formerly attached to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service as liaison. Ryan McLeod is a skilled and disciplined officer of the law, well suited for for an anti-terrorism focus. Other members include Betty Anne Grable, holding a PhD in Psychological Analysis and and a Masters in Statistical Analysis; Hari Hanoomansingh, a linguist of considerable talent and former member of a Communications company of the Indian Army; Stuart McIntyre, Lead Investigator of the Toronto CAS office, former defensive end of the Edmonton Eskimos and retired Staff Sergeant of the Edmonton Police department. Finally an Iranian-Canadian named Darya Barzaryan, seconded from the Canadian Border Services Agency, also a linguist but trained to read peoples behavior at border crossings rounds out the team for on the ground situations."
