Two children, Hinto and Amaryllis flee from a war torn country seeking safety with the people of The Way. They face many dangers caught in a war between The Kingdom of the West and The Lands of the Sands. Both rulers of The Kingdom and The Lands consider each other to be barbarians and the children suffer at the hands of both.
