Recenzii
`This edition of the A-Text of Doctor Facustus is very welcome. Roma Gill presents us here with an excellent working edition. The notes are informative and uncluttered ... The editor's scholarship is everywhere present, and so is her enthusiasm for the play. That makes for an excellent combination. The book is handsomely produced by Oxford University Press.'Colin Wilcockson, Review of English Studies
`The text is well edited, and the policy of using the original spelling is encouraging.'Notes and Queries
'an excellent introduction and extensive commentary ... One learns valuable things here.'John D. Cox, Hope College, Holland, Michigan, YES, 22, 1992
`Gill shows that a few intelligent revisions are sufficient to make the A-text a striking literary and dramatic work in its own right.'Peter Goldstein, The Sixteenth Century Journal
clearly intended for the scholarly market...a critically edited old-spelling edition based on the A text...If Gill's hypothesis is correct, and it makes sense, then she has here offered a solid objection to Kirschbaum's arguments about the b text's priority in the line of transmission.
