Wally, who later adopts Robert, raises him as his own son. After Robert comes to live with Wally, his learning abilities runs off the intellectual charts and soon he is giving the opportunity to attend one of the leading institutes in the nation. At MIT Robert excels beyond his own imagination and expectations while receiving top honors. Still willing to move ahead, he is accepted into the master's program at MIT, where he excels even more. After graduating from MIT, Robert returns home to Wally and takes his father's business to new heights, opening more than twenty-five Wally & Son Automotive Repair Shops. His success soon grabs the attention of the good-ole-boys on Wall Street, and before long they come knocking at his door. They come hoping to make him an executive, but after a brief encounter with Wall Street's top brass, Robert turns them down to focus upon running his father's businesses. But his continued success brings those Wall Street boys back to his doorstep once more, only this time Robert agrees to a temporal deal, in order to help a failing automobile manufacturer get back on its feet. But he soon discovers that he has been swindled, and that Marryna Motors has had him in their CEO rear view mirror all along. After taking the position as CEO at Marryna Motors, Robert soon turns the automotive world, as well as corporate America, upside down with his brilliance. Robert soon wins the hearts of the American people, as well as the top brass on Wall Street. His broad and bold approach towards managing the corporate structure changes the view of managers throughout the entire world forever. But through it all, Robert still believed that his father was the true genius. He himself finally has a change of heart once he learns the truth about his own abilities. After hearing the truth from Ann Roberson, a brilliant and well-respected reporter from New York, he is finally convinced that he is, in fact, the true Corporate Genius.
