Firru . a dat nota:
I would argue that The Count of Monte Cristo is a dream that we wish to dream, or we have dreamed it already, and that’s the appealing aspect of it despite being a thousand-page tome—it continues to be a beloved classic. Typically, people would dream what the protagonist Edmond Dantès does—the events that are set in motion in this epic roller-coaster—or hope to do if they themselves find in such circumstances—or something that’s relatable and not necessarily a ditto version of it. It would be a futile attempt in a sense to find someone who would refuse to root for Edmond Dantès and be one of his well-wishers, since Dumas wrote exactly what an ordinary person would think or do or at least dream what Edmond Dantès does—if they were in Edmond’s shoes—and as a result it turned out to be one of the highly accessible and rewarding works of literature.
