The Daddy Store
Ilustrat de Sanne Miltenburgen Limba Engleză Hardback – 10 mai 2016 – vârsta de la 4 ani
We got a flyer for the Daddy Store in our mailbox today. There are all sorts of dads in the Daddy Store. I myself already have a dad. But I don’t really like him. When Dad plays soccer with me, he gets tired after five minutes. When I jump from the highest diving board into the swimming pool, he doesn’t even see me. And at the fair, he thinks everything is too expensive. I’ve had enough! I am going to exchange my daddy for a different one. But are the dads in the Daddy Store really more fun?

Notă biografică
Sanne Miltenburg has always been fascinated by stories. As a child she read everything she could get her hands on and started making up her own little stories in text and drawings. Throughout secondary school she made a comic strip or an illustrated novel every summer holiday. Her short stories and poems were published in magazines and newspapers. She regularly won writing contests. She comes from a creative family so was very lucky to always have been supported in her projects. In 2005 she graduated from the Art Academy St. Joost in Illustration. In 2008 she started her blog for which she regularly wrote articles about illustration, writing and her existence as a freelancer. In 2013 she graduated from Script+ in Amsterdam for 'Writing for children'. Today she's a full time illustrator.
Extras
The saleswoman gives me a friendly smile.
"This is a really fine example," she says.
"You can trade in your old dad for a new one.
Did you see our special offers?"
She points to a few dads behind glass.
They all look nice! After some thought, I choose my new dad.
"Let's go for a swim!" I say to my new dad.
"What a wonderful idea!" he replies.
He stands at the side of the pool and watches me.
He nods proudly and calls out: "Have you seen him?
My fantastic son? Look at how fast he goes!"
I sigh.
This dad is no good.
I'll have to exchange him for a different one.
I hand in my ticket at the cashier's desk.
"I want my old dad back," I say.
"Are you sure?" the saleswoman asks.
"Yes!"
