The Days of August

August and Gabrielle are in their eighties when they meet and fall in love, a surprise to both of them. They are very happy together and life is good. They live apart in a beautiful retirement place. Both are writers. Gabrielle is working on her second novel and August is putting together a book of his earlier published writings. He has a strong need for their love for each other to be a secret for he worries about gossip, which he hates. Gabrielle feels so happy with him that she wants the world to know. Illness enters their lives and it is harsh and bitter. It brings fear into their days but they are able to bring strength to each other.
