The Days of Clover

Autor Rory Knapton
en Limba Engleză Paperback
The Days of Clover Set in 1960 the story follows the mischievous summer adventures of five young boys who discover that bullies and ghosts can lead to tragedy but can also reveal truths that will change their lives forever. Based on actual events and real historic sites and including treasured local myths, the tale unwinds on St. Simons Island, Georgia-a favorite regional seaside get-away and once the playground only of elites. The Days of Clover is a story for all ages, as it bridges the sunny wonder of youth with the intrigue of darker (and very real) days in the more distant past. The narrative's prologue in fact begins in 1801 with the capture of the once free and God loving African Igbo tribe, native to Nigeria. The author, Rory Knapton, was raised on St. Simons Island, and his father, Richard, was an aviator in the Navy. In 1957, Rory's dad purchased a home on St. Simons Island during one of his tours, stationed at the Naval Base at Glynco, Georgia. The family would live only a few years at a time on the beloved island, because young Rory traveled with his father during years of military service. Rory attended St. Simon's Elementary School and Middle School and graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia in 1967, and then attended Brunswick College. Between his father's tours, he would try and recapture friendships that he missed. Recently, the author appeared twice on the The Early Show (CBS), hosted by Julie Chen and Harry Smith. He garnered rave reviews from hosts, media critics, and fans alike, as his band had won a national music contest sponsored by the show. Rory has also written and produced many musical works that have been published in thirty countries, and certain works have appeared in thousands of churches, globally. Even though The Days of Clover is based on real events, as Rory remembers chasing ghosts or escaping the deadly grip of legends, the haunted antics are not the point of the story; rather, this adventure reveals the valuable morals and judgments that mark youth. It is the author's desire to make the reader laugh, cry, feel excitement, explore mystery, and hopefully, above all, appreciate a much greater truth - the power of truth itself.
