The Devil's Caretaker: Explaining in Plain English How Dogs Learn and How Best to Teach Them

en Limba Engleză Paperback – 30 apr 2010
The young don't always believe that evil exists, or that foolish mistakes can invite that evil into their lives. For college student David Fouraker this is a painful lesson he will learn one terrible summer. While enjoying a party weekend at a river fish camp in north Florida, David gets a DUI during a late-night food run for his friends. He believes that's the worst thing that could possibly happen to him. He is wrong. Sentenced to community service, David must spend the summer in the rural county. Concerned about finding an inexpensive place to stay while he works off his court obligations, it seems like amazingly good fortune when realtor Harold Eblis offers to let David stay in one of his properties in exchange for caretaking duties. What David doesn't know is that the smarmy Eblis is not what he seems, and that the house has a dark purpose. Over time, David realizes he wasn't wanted as a caretaker at all. Instead, the forces of darkness want him as bait-someone who will bring those he cares for most into a hellish nightmare from which there is no escape. Pitting himself against the evil that lives in the house the owner calls Casa de Almas-the House of Souls-will change David's life forever. As he develops from a young man living a life of careless frivolity to having concern for his fellow man, David will come to recognize the forces of good and evil, and learn how just one bad decision can lead to dire consequences for oneself and for those one loves. "Caretaker" is Book One in the story of David Fouraker.
