The Dominican Republic is an extraordinarily welcoming nation. Dominicans are joyful people who love to party and celebrate. The most common Dominican celebration is the "cocinao" (A cook-off) Possibly their Taino natives ancestors, lovers of good and peaceful life have something to do with it. The Dominican Nation, formed originally of Spanish, African and Taino natives centuries ago evolved into what is now a well defined culture with its own identity. Dominican Spanish dialect is one of the best expressions of the Dominican culture. In no other topic will Dominicans express their culture better than in their cuisine. Somehow hidden from the world only in the last few years have the world started discovering the amazing Dominican food. It is not all inclusive and it could not possibly be. The objective is to bring some light to those trying to discover Dominican cooking and to those Dominicans in search of their own roots. It is a project and as such, bound to evolve, grow and improve.
