This edition of The Dream of Gerontius seeks to be the definitive edition of Newman's poem, cramming in more supplementary materials than any other versions of the text. Contained within these covers are: Cardinal Newman's original poem in full, complete with informative annotations, an introduction and biography of the author by Maurice Francis Egan, the entire vocal score of Elgar's setting of the work, and background and biographical material pertaining to that music. It is our earnest hope here at Cby that in providing such a wealth of materials the reader may appreciate the text's deep spiritual message all the more keenly.
