At the age of twenty four, the author was diagnosed with type one diabetes. He describes the challenges this disease presented as he lived during the next thirty-five years before receiving a kidney/pancreas transplant, ending dialysis and diabetes. He writes to encourage those already with diabetes, and provides useful information to others who may be seeking ways to prevent type two diabetes. He also writes about organ donation and the tremendous effect it had upon his life.
