Autor A. S. Goudie, D. Brunsden
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 5 ian 1995
In this atlas the authors have brought together, in accessible form, a set of maps which portray a vivid picture of the physical environment of the British Isles. Each set of maps is accompanied by text that explains the nature and causes of the patterns that can be observed. The contents are broadly based, covering the geology, geomorphology, hydrology, climatolgoy, soils, biogeography, and seas of the British Isles and the human impact on each of these aspects. The maps are as uncomplicated as the subject matter allows and the text is designed to be accessible to a wide range of readers. The book was prepared to celebrate the centenary of the Geographical Assocation. From it emerges a remarkable picture of the physical landscape. Together with its companion volume, Britiain in the 1990s: A Social and Economic Atlas, it provides a comprehensive overview of the British Isles.

A concise study tool.
This book will be welcomed by students and teachers alike ... The book is admirable in concept.
The text conveys a lot of information clearly and engagingly, with flashes of wit.
This book offers teachers a useful, convenient and cheaply priced source of data, largely on the physical environment.
It has provided me with a concise, spatial summary of a wealth of information that I would not normally have encountered ... this is a fascinating and useful collection of maps and text. The early location of a place-name map for the major relief regions makes the text, which is replete with place names, comprehensible both to foreigners and to the locationally challenged. Having all the maps together encourages spatial correlation, raises interesting questions, and suggests areas for further research.
The contents list is a clearly expressed mixture of locations and study sections ... The page layout is convenient with short text and well annotated maps on facing pages for quick reference ... Easy to use. An ideal book for data and locational exemplifications to enhance A Level physical geography essays.
The book lives up to its publisher's aim: "To gather together information which would otherwise be available only in often obscure publications." ... Easy to use. An ideal book for data and locational exemplifications to enhance A Level physical geography essays.
