Katelin's world crumbled with the death of her father. Since that devastating day, she fills her time being the center of attention with her friends to bury her grief. Fearing the upcoming first anniversary of his death, Katelin makes sure each day of summer will be filled with activities. She was looking forward to the first big pool party when the worst possible announcement came from her mother. She and her brother, Simon, were being sent to their great-grandmother's home in the Appalachian valley. Trapped in a place she hates and with no one around for miles, Katelin takes all her frustrations out on Simon. When she accidentally transports herself to a terrifying world inhabited by vile forest creatures and ruthless killer trolls, Katelin knows she has to survive at any cost. Nana's life depends on her.
