Winner of: Moonbeam Children's Book Award, Bronze Medal, YA Religion/Spirituality Eric Horton has been having disturbing nightmares of explosions and fire and someone screaming. The dreams keep him up at night, but during the day, as a goalkeeper on his high school's varsity soccer team, he has been unbeatable, saving shot after shot with what feels like a supernatural awareness of where the ball is headed. He also shares an uncommonly strong connection with Renee, the attractive new French exchange student. The wild visions and synchronicities pale in comparison to the strange experiments Renee's father is carrying out in the physics lab at the university, however. He has asked Eric to take part in the tests, which makes Eric question whether what he is seeing and hearing is reality or something far beyond it. When his friend Will develops a drinking problem and Renee starts flirting with other guys, Eric loses his confidence on the soccer field and in himself. If he is going to pull it all together, he will have to tap into a part of himself that he never knew existed.

Recenzii

"Richardson did a terrific job of portraying this young male, and it really felt like I was inside a teenage boy's head for the entire story. I'd highly recommend this book to any male young adult reader, and all the parents wondering about just WHAT is going on in their child's head. It was a great read." --naimeless.wordpress.com
"This story has strong messages of unified spiritualism and green energy. Eric and Renee's star-gazing date was a perfect example of a romantic and sweet alternative to the common." --pageprincess.wordpress.com
"This was a really interesting read. What intriqued me the most was the sci-fi connection. The book is all about the Universal Field of energy that surrounds us. Eric participates in research testing and learns that he has a clairvoyant spark within himself." --Dorine White, dorinewhite.blogspot.com
"The Field is an interesting YA read that's rather difficult to classify. It's part paranormal, part science. There's a bit of mystery and some romance. [...] I recommend The Field to everyone high school and up that enjoys an interesting and different read. There's something for everyone in this novel: science, sports, angst, and romance." --Kimber Leigh Wheaton, onceuponayabook.blogspot.com
"I would recommend this book to YA readers who want something out of the ordinary, who question how the universe works, are interested in science and science fiction and who are open to new ideas." --Tracy Riva, tracyriva.com
" The Field is a combination of the real world of soccer and the mystical world of the Universal Energy Field. This is a very imaginative novel." --Alan Caruba, bookviewsbyalancaruba.blogspot.com
"Richardson is a worthy heir to Madeleine L'Engle." --Rita Kohn, NUVO
"Readers will appreciate the fast-paced, compelling drama. A good choice for people who hope there's more to space than space". -- Kirkus Reviews
