THE GAZETTE: FROM DETROIT TO THE TRENCHES is a coming of age story that chronicles the lives of fifteen year old Bob Stevens, his friend Maggie Robinson, and eighteen year old Davy McLeod. It is set during the turmoil of the Great War. Between 1915 and 1918 in Detroit, Michigan the real life Bob Stevens wrote a newspaper called, "The Gazette". His newspapers are the inspiration for this historical novel. Bob wants to be a war correspondent. For practice, he writes a neighborhood newspaper. He only hopes that the war will last long enough for him to get to Europe. Smart, independent Maggie understands the sacrifices war requires; she has two brothers fighting in France. Davy joins the British forces to escape his job in a Scottish mine. As the world is tested and changed by the Great War, so too are Bob, Maggie, and Davy.

Notă biografică

Catherine Paonessa lives in metropolitan Detroit. After 29 years as a computer systems engineer in the defense industry, Catherine traded in writing technical web pages for writing stories. The Gazette: From Detroit to the Trenches is the result. It is Catherine's debut novel. Catherine has an engineering degree from Michigan State University - Go Green. She credits her father Joe Paonessa, an advertising copywriter and executive, with teaching her to write. Catherine and her husband Andy enjoy trips downtown to see concerts, watch the Red Wings, or stroll through the DIA. They also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and cross country skiing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They have two grown daughters and enjoy fun family dinners, travelling, and cheering for the Michigan State Spartans. ------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------
