The Glory of Kirat History

Autor Gl Rai-Zimmdar
en Limba Engleză Paperback
No historical tradition existed in South Asia until the Europeans arrival in the region beginning with Vasco da Gama's arrival in 1498; with an exception that the Moslem rulers had maintained their meticulous chronicles. It was Vincent A Smith, an officer of the Colonial British Administration, who has rightly been called the Herodotus of India, who wrote, ab initio, the first ever history of India. His magnum opus, covering the unchartered vast area from sixth century B.C. to colonial British Empire, a compendious volume, The Oxford History of India was published in 1919. Although Smith's contribution filled a void, he nevertheless totally ignored a section of the population, the Kirati-Mongolians of South Asia and he has not given a reason why he did so. Smith knew who the Kirati Mongolians are and had actually identified not only the Buddha, but the population of the region during the time of Ashok the Great to be like the Gurkhas; after all a Gurkha is a Kirati Mongolian. Following Vincent Smith's lead, all later historians too have simply excluded the Kirati-Mongolians from the region as if they do not matter. This book, therefore is the first ever attempt to assert our place in the history and that is the reason why you want to read it.
