The Gospel according to Daniel – A Christ–Centered Approach

Autor Bryan Chapell
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 14 mar 2014
Often we read the book of Daniel in one of two ways--either as a book about a heroic man whose righteousness should inspire us to keep the faith no matter what our circumstances, or as a roadmap to the end times that can, through careful study, perhaps tell us the day and hour (or nearly so) of Christ's return. Both, says Bryan Chapell, are sadly missing the bigger picture, that "God" is the hero of this story and he is in the midst of his unrelenting plan to rescue his people from their sin and its consequences. We mustn't simply make the man Daniel the object of our worship nor the subject of our debates. We may differ about prophetic details, Chapell says, but we should never miss the point that the book of Daniel is, like all of Old Testament Scripture, pointing us toward the grace of God, ultimately revealed in Christ.
Pastors, teachers, and individual Christians studying the book of Daniel will find this volume a welcome addition to their library.

The book of Daniel isn't ultimately about Daniel--it's about the gospel of Jesus.
Often we read the book of Daniel in one of two ways--either as a book about a heroic man whose righteousness should inspire us to keep the faith, or as a roadmap to the end times that can, through careful study, tell us the day and hour (or nearly so) of Christ's return. Both, says Bryan Chapell, are sadly missing the bigger picture--that "God" is the hero of this story, and he is in the midst of his unrelenting plan to rescue his people from their sin and its consequences. Pastors, teachers, and any Christian who wants to learn how to faithfully understand the book of Daniel without getting derailed by hero worship or prophetic mysteries will value this grace-centered approach.
"A tour de force of biblical theology. This is an example of the kind of preaching that should be found in every pulpit."--R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
"Bryan Chapell is a great Bible teacher. He helps us see our Messiah and his mission through the book of Daniel."--Mark Driscoll, pastor of Mars Hill Church, founder of Resurgence, cofounder of Acts 29, "New York Times" #1 bestselling author
"Chapell has been at the forefront of a resurgence in Christ-centered exposition, persuasively arguing that all of Scripture demonstrates the grace of God which culminates in the person and work of Jesus Christ. In this new and welcomed volume, Dr. Chapell goes beyond merely telling us how this can be done to showing us what such an interpretation actually looks like."--Justin Taylor, blogger at "Between Two Worlds," coauthor of "The Final Days of Jesus"
"This book is spectacular. If you want to learn how to see Christ in all of Scripture and grace for all of life, or if you plan to read, teach, or preach Daniel, then be sure to read it."--Justin S. Holcomb, author of "On the Grace of God," professor of theology at Reformed Theological Seminary and Knox Theological Seminary
Bryan Chapell (PhD) is senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois, as well as president emeritus at Covenant Theological Seminary and distinguished professor of preaching at Knox Theological Seminary. He also teaches at Reformed Theological Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and other seminaries internationally. Chapell is a widely traveled speaker and the author of numerous books, including the bestseller "Christ-Centered Preaching" and "Christ-Centered Worship."
