Born in Alberta in 1936, Herschel Hardin has written many non-fiction books on Canadian society and politics, and plays including Esker Mike and His Wife, Agiluk (1973) and The Great Wave of Civilization (1976). He recently ran for the leadership of the federal New Democratic Party. He lives in West Vancouver, B.C.
