The Happily Ever Story About Love and Courage takes the reader into Calabaza's journey through her successful battle against cancer. Calabaza is a young, elementary school teacher that relies on her family's love, support, and encouragement during her six months of treatment. Escoba, her husband, Arana, her sister, and her Mami and Papi plan activities to lift Calabaza's spirit during the tough times. Calabaza's family plans daily activities - from going to parks, feeding the ducks, pretending to be rock stars and completing puzzles - creating a strong family bond. The book contains page-size, bright illustrations and a Spanish/English dictionary with nine words used throughout the book. The story is based on the author's personal experience.
