This is a fictional family saga featuring the Gallaghers and concentrates in and around the lower mainland of Vancouver Island. The date is May 1946. The people living in Sooke, B.C., were referred to as "living in the sticks." Because is so underdeveloped life was basic and hard going for most of the locals. Jean Hunter is a young country girl trying to cope with more that her fair share of heartache, deceit, love and loss.
