Sir Charles Napier's campaign in Sindh has been both praised and criticised. His resort to unethical and unjust actions which turned the Anirs of Sindh against the British, but which ultimately led to the conquest of Sindh, created considerable controversy. This contoversy led his brother William to write A Conquest of Sindh, in which he tries valiently to defend Sir Charles Napier. One is impressed by the coolness with which William dismisses Napier'scritics and the detail he furnishes about his achievements in Sindh.
