The impact of recruitment and retention policies

Many countries around the world are faced with the challenges of ensuring an equitable educational system where neither schooling nor education results depend on race, family origin, gender nor the region of the country in which one lives. To address this challenge, governments need to ensure among others that schools across the country are staffed with qualified educators. Recruitment and retention of qualified educators by remote schools has, however, proved to be difficult. This resulted in some governments implementing "Recruitment and Retention Incentive Policy for Qualified Educators in Remote Schools" with the aim of supporting the recruitment and retention of qualified educators at remote schools. The book investigates the impact that the policy on the recruitment and retention of qualified educators in remote schools has on the recruitment and retention of qualified educators at remote schools. The results indicate that though there is a big impact by the policy on the recruitment and retention of qualified educators, educators affected by the policy are not happy with the categorisation of schools on which the incentive is based.
