The implications for textbooks liberalization policy in Tanzania

Autor Godfrey Bukagile, Ernest Kira
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 29 apr 2012
This text was prepared in a context where textbook liberalization policy in Tanzania replaced monopoly system where production of text books for schools was being done by Tanzania Institute of education. Thus, it gives a broad picture on the consequences of the liberalization policy by focusing on the quality of secondary education. Theoretical perspectives discussed in this text address both the outcome of liberal market and monopoly system of books production including the criteria for selecting relevant school text materials applicable worldwide. It means, the text demonstrates the widening gap between the supply of school text materials and the possibility of their quality control. A condition which calls for a more focused criteria for selecting school based text books. Thus, the monograph is globally useful for book publishers, book sellers, authors, editors, educators and students of all levels of education.
