The alehouse has always been an essential part of an English village and legislation regarding the sale of ale has existed since the time of the Magna Carta. The history of some of the alehouses of Little Hulton Walkden and Worsley can be dated back to the 1500s. Even before any alehouses existed the people of these areas can be dated back to the Roman and Saxon times.
