Her family resists her marriage outside her culture. She tells the reader how she overcomes the cultural barrier and follows her heart. She then takes the reader through her adventurous life in America with the love of her life, who introduces her to a new world-the American world, where she finds her place and practices medicine after she becomes licensed as a medical doctor.
