Regent's Study Guides are a series published jointly by Regent's Park College, Oxford, and Smyth & Helwys Publishing, Inc. The series is characterized by the concern of the College to integrate careful theological thinking with the practice of pastoral care and service in society. Designed especially for those engaged in Christian pastoral care and service in society, the Guides relate their subjects to current affairs, the arts, science, and a Christian lifestyle for the present age. This book follows the story of Holy Week, the last seven days in the earthly life of Jesus Christ, as told by the writers of the four Gospels. But while it aims to examine the particular ways that each evangelist tells the story, it also dares to set out to uncover the main features of that story as it happened in that crucial week. The authors believe that there is both a story of history and a story of faith, and that two intertwine in the story of the Gospels. So, rather unusually, the main part of th
