Since Abdel Fatah al-Sisi seized power in a bloody coup in 2013, he bears responsibility for the deaths of hundreds of Egyptians, jailing thousands of others and running his country's economy into the ground. Once a cradle of civilization of the highest spiritual integrity, Egypt has descended into a regime of military dictatorship and human rights abuses; as well as the continuous persecution of human rights defenders.
