The Legacy of My Heroine begins September 16, 2001 three weeks into Sean's psychiatric care at Unit 4; a military style treatment facility for the sickest mentally ill children and teenagers in the state. This is Sean's second stay here. He became ill with treatable schizophrenia again because he refused to consent with the government that he is disabled in order to pay for his medicine which costs more than a $1,000 a month.
Then Sean meets Tiffany; a 17-year-old multiple rape victim who suffers from treatable psychotic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She enters the Unit 4 emergent with a broken arm, multiple contusions and lacerations after being assaulted by her foster father.
They develop a forbidden love in the act of trying to save each other's life. Can love overthrow sickness with the aid of medicine and take the place of lifelong disability?
